About Us
The Plainfield Township Highway Department is responsible for approximately 50 miles of roadway, ordered to the north by 135th Street, to the south by Theodore Street, to the east by Gaylord Road, and to the west by County Line Road. Not all roads in the township are under the township jurisdiction. This makes it very confusing for residents trying to get information and service. Call 8415.436.6090 with any questions. If the Highway Department cannot handle or provide an answer, you will be directed to the proper governing body.
Bridge Project
Work on the Renwick Road Bridge Project is moving along as scheduled. Accurate Steel has been on site completing rebar installation for the Pier 4 pier cap. All Pier 4 rebar and form work has been inspected and found acceptable. Albin Carlson has poured Pier 4 and has continued cofferdam excavation and clean up. Albin Carlson has also been working on the layout for the temporary widening of Renwick Road. Albin Carlson has also been driving piling at the west side river abutment. The east abutment has been excavated, and encasements and mud slab work have been completed. Valor Technologies was on site removing the asbestos from houses one (1) and seven (7). Len Cox and Sons was on site installing storm sewer truck lines on the west side of the river. They also have placed the storm sewer lateral runs at the various stations.
Again, there have been no major construction delays, and the project is still earmarked for completion by November, 2012.
Mowing
With the good weather, we have started our regular mowing cycles. Mowing has taken place on County Line Road, Taylor Road (143rd St.), Renwick Road, and all the area within and by the new bridge.
Storm Damage and Tree Trimming
Several days of high winds have created some damage to trees. Two-man crews were dispatched to cover the entire Road District to pick up downed branches and trim several trees.
Pot Hole Patching
One two-man crew has been doing additional work hot-patching pot holes with blacktop where needed.
Garbage/Trash Pickup
All Township Highway Department roads were traveled, and several bags of trash and garbage were picked up in April.
Shoulder Gravel
New shoulder gravel was installed by Highway Department personnel in several of the township subdivisions.
Ditching and Culvert Replacement
New ditch and culvert work started on Friday, April 27, in the Williamsburg Subdivision. This new project will take around two weeks to complete. After the completion of this project, the next one will take place in July.
Clean Catch Basins
The weather has provided the Highway Department crew the opportunity to keep all curbs and catch basins clean on a regular basis.
Branch Pick-up
The branch pick-up program started on Monday, April 2. Two man crews have been covering the entire Road District picking up branches on each Monday. This program will continue through the last Monday in October.
Park District Bike Path
There have been no new developments regarding a possible bike path funded by the Plainfield Park District crossing from the west side of the Du Page River to the east side nears the new and old bridges.
Thank you
The Plainfield Township Highway Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to every resident of Plainfield Township for your continued support.
