Assessment Notices Mailed July 31

Posted: Monday July 31, 2017

If there was a change at the local township level to your 2017 assessment, you should be receiving an assessment notice in the mail sometime next week.  These changes will also be posted in your local newspaper on August 2nd.  Typically, changes are made to an assessment when a newly built home is added to the tax rolls, when an improvement or addition is made to a property, or when a neighborhood is reviewed.  Please note that the vast majority of assessments will increase by the multiplier 1.0485.  Residents will NOT be receiving a notice if the only change was the multiplier.

If you would like more information on how assessments are calculated, and for details on the appeal process, check out this brochure.

Property Tax Info for Filing State & Federal Income Taxes

Posted: Tuesday January 31, 2017

It’s that time of year again!  The IRS has set January 23rd  as the date you can start filing your 2016 income taxes.  The deadline to file is April 18th .  For some homeowners, you may be required to supply your Permanent Index Number (PIN) and/or the amount you paid in property taxes.  Both of these are available on your 2015 Property Tax Bill that you paid in 2016, but if you do not have it handy please feel free to give us a call for this information.

You can also look up your PIN on our website by using this Property Search link.  Select your street name from the drop down box and click “Submit”. Locate your property on this list and you will find your PIN.  Please note that all Will County PINs are 16 digits, and all Plainfield Township PINs begin with the numbers “06”, even though the “06” is not displayed on our site. Please make sure to include them on your tax return.

If you have questions about your tax bill specifically, or if you need a copy of the bill, you will need to contact the Will County Treasurer’s Office at 815-740-4683.  You can also view your bills and make payments on-line at their website: www.willcountytaxbill.com.
